Charnell Ray Harmon, 88, of Greenville, passed away on June 20, 2020 at his home.

Ray was born in Abilene, Texas on December 2, 1931 to Gispert and Neva Lee Harmon.  He grew up in Colorado City, Texas and graduated from Colorado City High School in 1949.  He and Peggy Beaty were married on October 31, 1953 in Loraine, Texas and were happily married for 66 years. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1951 to 1955.  Afterward, he attended and graduated from North Texas State University.  He and his family moved to Greenville in 1966.  He worked for LTV until 1978.  He then fulfilled his lifetime dream of owning a used car dealership.  He owned and managed Harmon Auto Sales until his retirement in 2008.

Being very strong in his faith, he joyfully passed on his love of Christ to everyone that he met, whether in a line at a grocery store, at hospitals, doctor’s offices, and to his family.  He was a member of Highland Terrace Baptist Church.

Ray is survived by his wife, Peggy Harmon; daughters, Pam Siebenhausen and husband Chris and Penny Crabtree and husband Scott; son David Harmon and wife Rita, all of Greenville. Sisters Fretta Billingsley of Snyder, TX and Joy Bowles of Waco, TX.  Grandchildren, Chris Siebenhausen IV and wife Lesley of Dallas, James Siebenhausen and wife Melissa, Sydney Andrews and husband Brandon, Samantha Harmon, Sawyer Harmon and wife Morgan, Cal Crabtree, and Maddy Crabtree, all of Greenville. He was also blessed with 8 great-grandchildren.

Ray was preceded in death by his parents, Gispert and Neva Lee Harmon, brother Doyle Harmon, and sister Glenda Garlick.

His grandsons Chris Siebenhausen IV, James Siebenhausen, Cal Crabtree, Sawyer Harmon, and Brandon Andrews will serve as pallbearers.

A private family graveside service is scheduled for Friday, June 26, 2020 with Reverend Royce Litchfield officiating.  Burial will be at Memoryland Memorial Park.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 25, 2020, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to Gideon’s International (Greenville Local Chapter) or Highland Terrace Baptist Church Missions.
