John Thomas Blount, Jr., 94 of Rowlett, passed away on April 10, 2021 in Forney. Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M., Monday, April 19, 2021 at New Life Church in Garland with Pastor Shannon Stanley officiating. Graveside services will be at D/FW National Cemetery following the service at 1:30 P.M. Visitation will be Sunday, April 18, 2021 from 12 Noon to 4:00 P.M. at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home.
Mr. Blount was born on May 26, 1926 in Sweetwater, Texas to John Thomas Blount, Sr. and Prelina N. Cheatam. He married Pauline Lindsey on July 11, 1966 in Dallas, Texas. He was a veteran of the United States Army, worked for Wal-Mart and was a member of New Life Church of Garland.
He is survived by daughters, Joyce Jones and husband, Jerry and Loyce Mejias; sister, Leana Owens; grandchildren, Scott Jones and Matthew Jones; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Loyce Blount, the mother to his children; brother, Jack Blount, sisters, Elizabeth Jane Joslin, Margarette Hazel Richie, Sleaty Iver Blount, Virginia Mae Richie, Billy Joyce Wright and Rivie Norene Nolte.
