Spencer Thomas Sumrow, 61, of Mt. Vernon, passed away on August 18, 2021. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 28, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home Chapel with Bradley LaFavors officiating.
Spencer was born August 8, 1960 in Greenville, Texas to Spencer Jerry and Cecilia Ann Hagan Sumrow. He married Joyce Chapman on December 18, 1989 in Greenville, Texas. He worked as an inspector for the railroad
and Texas Eco Services in Mesquite. He was of the Pentecostal faith.
Spencer is survived by his wife, Joyce Sumrow; mother, Ann Starkey; daughters, Jessica Sumrow, Julie Gadlin all of Mt. Vernon and C. K. Sumrow; son, Jeremy Sumrow of Greenville; step-sister, Pam Gooch of Kilgore; sisters-in-law, Gloria Chapman of Greenville, Susan Chapman of Temple, Janet Ross of Virginia; and brother-in-law, Alan Chapman of New York; cousins, Donja and Paul Sumrow of Dallas; his aunt, uncle and cousins from Celeste; and brother, Alex Sumrow and wife, Amanda of California.
He is preceded in death by his father; brother, Tim Sumrow; stepbrother, Mike Starkey and step-father, Lester Starkey; and sister-in-law, Julia Herzinburg; brothers-in-law, Brian Chapman and Jeff Chapman.
