Tommy Dale Overturf, of Wolfe City, Texas born in Dallas Texas August 17, 1955, and passed from this life on December 4, 2021, at 7:21 pm.  A memorial service will be 2:00 P.M., Monday, January 3, 2022, at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home Chapel.

Tom was proceeded in death by his daughter Melissa Diane Overturf, Mother and Father Aubrey Jay and Elsie Francis Overturf, Brother Aubrey J. Overturf, Jr., Sister Kimberly Ann Gonzales all from Dallas Texas.

Survived by his “best friend” Wayne Ray (Raylan) Baker, his siblings, Linda Letrell, Diane Rogers, Ginny McWilliams, Johnny Overturf and baby sister Kathy Baker Grandsons Alex Farmer and Cade Goss and a multitude of nieces and nephews.  He also is survived by 3 grown stepsons who he raised and loved, Jeff, Rusty and Dusty Webb.  And Many very dear friends.

Tom was a blood bought child of the Almighty who led many friends to the knowledge of the saving power of Jesus Christ. He was a musician who loved his music and instruments.  Tom was the founder of the group “By Faith Alone”.  He and his group sang for years in the East Texas and Southern Oklahoma area churches and functions and a regular at the Joan Kelton’s Bonham Hoedown gospel and country music shows.

Tom was a musician who enjoyed playing music and singing with his family.  It was his calling.  Thankfully he got one last opportunity to do this with his siblings at “The Gathering” last January in Little Rock, Arkansas, a memory that will be cherished until the siblings are all joined together in heaven one day.  He also loved Camping. Memories of us singing at the top of our lungs into the trees to get the sound just right will live on. He loved strolling through Canton first Monday trade days to have an angus burger and look for treasures. He was a man who insisted on structure and order.  Messes made him crazy.  Though he was always a “germaphobe” he was one of the first people to contract Covid.  Odd to those who knew him because he didn’t like to shake hands or hug at church for years before.  He always carried hand sanitizer even before the virus was ever thought of.

Tom owned and lived in a house in Wolfe City that he kept immaculately clean, the yard was edge to edge St Augustine and was also immaculately manicured.  In fact, every Thursday was what he called “yard day” where the grass was cut whether it needed it or not.

Tom was a one-of-a-kind human.  He spent a lot of his time over the past few years “Jeeping”, and other hobbies with his nephew Drew Baker.  They forged a bond that was mutual and fierce.

Everyone who knew Tom loved him.  He was loving, loyal and sometimes, suborned to a fault.  He depended on Jesus for everything, and the Lord sustained him until the very end.  During the last week he was not in pain at all.  He was infested with cancer and should have had a lot of pain, but the Lord spared him that.  Tom is not lost.  We know exactly where he is.  He is in the presence of our Lord in the company of family singing praises forevermore.
