Lillie Ely
Lillie F. “Odell” Ely, Age 86 of Greenville, formerly of Rains County, passed away Thursday, December 11, 2008 at her residence. Services will be held at 2:00 PM Monday at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Billy Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Clifton Cemetery in Rains County. Visitation will be on Sunday from 5 to 7 PM at the funeral home.
Mrs. Ely was born on January 11, 1922 in Rains County to Walter F. McCormack and Emma Shumate McCormack. On March 18, 1936, she married Tommie J. Ely in County Line, Rains County. She was a homemaker and also worked at Skillern’s Drug Store and a sewing factory in Dallas and a sewing factory in Royse City. She was a member of New Day Tabernacle in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
She is survived by her husband, Tommie J. Ely of Greenville; grandson Jack Ely and wife, Sara of Waller; granddaughters Charlotte Killian and husband Mike of Houston and Donna Bowman and husband, Bob of Houston; seven great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Juanell Moser in March, 2008 and her only son, Billy Allen on June 7, 1985.
Pallbearers will be Dennis Moser, Gene Collins, Gerald Norris, H. D. “Bud” Bryant; Charles Ely and Wesley Ely.
