She was born in Greenville, Texas, the daughter of Ed B. Williams Sr. and Susie Lee Joiner. She married Sam Reeves Alexander on June 5, 1937, who preceded her in death on January 30, 1975. She is survived by her two daughters, Patricia DeVeny and Sue Ann Harting; three grandchildren, Dianne DeVeny, David DeVeny and Alexandra Alexander; and one great-granddaughter Shannon Nicole DeVeny; one sister, Rosabel Warren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Dorthea Riley and Ina Vorderlandwhr; one brother, Ed B. Williams Jr.; and her parents.

Mary Sue was a homemaker who loved her family, cooking and entertaining. She belonged to the Junior Palace Club, the Dirtdobbers Garden Club and two bridge clubs. Her love of traveling started with her husband, Sam. After his death, she continued to take cruises and enjoy visiting interesting parts of the world. Cruising became a yearly adventure for Mary Sue until her health started to fail in 2004. She went on 26 World Cruises which gave her many pictures, memories and stories to share with her family and friends. Dancing was another love of her life. From a young girl, she enjoyed dancing and continued to dance on the cruise ships and anywhere else she could find a band playing up until the last few months of her life.

She will be greatly missed by all those who knew her.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or any other charity of your choice.
