 Ruth McCormack, 87, of Commerce died March 3, 2009, at Oak Manor Nursing Center of Commerce. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home chapel in Greenville with Pastor Levy Laguardia officiating. Burial will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Park in Rockwall. Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Mrs. McCormack was born May 5, 1921, in Hamilton County to Sam Lee and Linnie Betty Leeth Trimmier. On March 7, 1942, she married DeWitt McCormack in Louisiana; he preceded her in death on Oct. 26, 1996. She taught reading in the Dallas Independent School District and was a member of the Umphress Road United Methodist Church in Dallas. Her survivors include her daughter, Joan Lambert and husband Jerry of Campbell; son Walter McCormack and friend Diane Emerson of Burleson; a sister, Imadee Akin of San Antonio; grandchildren Derek Lambert and wife Rhonda of Rockwall, Kim Webber and husband Joe of Harlingen and Tanya McCormack of Dallas; and great-grandchildren Hunter Lambert and Tyler and Lauren Webber.In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, and sisters.The family requests memorials be made to Umphress Road United Methodist Church, 7224 Umphress Road, Dallas, 75217.
