Donna Maurine Stromberg, business woman, artist and matriarch of the Stromberg family, peacefully transitioned from earthly life to eternal life at her home March 15th, 2009. She was 78. She was a Greenville resident for 36 years.
Born in Parker, Idaho, July 24th, 1930 to Frank and Eunice Mineer, Maurine attended BYU. She fell in love with Pat Stromberg at Yellowstone Park while she worked at the lodge and he was running horseback trail rides and backcountry treks. They were married and over the years tried their hands at several businesses in Idaho, Utah, California, Arizona, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas. They had 8 children along the way and moved to Greenville in 1973.
With her husband and family, she started Stromberg Patio, a manufacturer of fountains and statuary in 1970, which she continued to operate after Pat’s death. Many knew Maurine from her annual displays of fountains at the Texas State Fair. She organized and worked at the display every year without fail for over 35 years, setting a record for the longest running exhibit of its type and winning numerous awards. Never wanting to slow down, she continued to do the work she loved until the day before she passed away.
