Jason Tanner Minter, 20, of Celeste, passed away on September 3, 2026 in Greenville, Texas. A celebration of life will be 2:00 P.M., Saturday, September 12, 2026 at Celeste High School Gymnasium with Pastor Hunter McDaniel officiating. Coker-Mathews Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Tanner was born on April 21, 2006 in Rowlett, Texas to Jason Todd Minter and Kelly Jo Hitsman. He worked for Garland Power and Light in operations at the Ray Olinger Power Plant as a Production Technician and was a member of Kingston Methodist Church.
Tanner has a love for life, he embraced life, loved deeply and laughed often. He was a loyal friend, always ready to share a story, a laugh or a helping hand. Tanner had a real love for football and all that comes with it. The excitement of the game, the brotherhood of teammates, and the memories gathered around the field. Football was more than a game to him; it was a true passion. His greatest legacy will not be measured by accomplishments but by the love he gave, the friendships he built, and the lives he touched. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
He is survived by his parents, Jason and Kelly Minter; sisters, Madison Nicole Minter and fiancé, Zay Edwards and Preslee Grace Minter; nephew, Kylo Edwards; and niece, Zuri Edwards.
He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Randy Hitsman and Jerry Minter; great-grandparents, Doris and Denver Ward.
Honorary pallbearers will be Toby Minter, Cash Ottwell, Brenden Carter, Seth Buckley, Matthew McDaniel, Cutter George, Brody Pryor, Drew Compton, Anthony Powell, Koby Brown, Micheal Connelly, Donovan Lyday, Nick Clark, along with many more friends who loved Tanner dearly.
In lieu of flowers, an account has been set up at the Celeste Bank for donations to be made to the Celeste Athletic Program to honor Tanner’s life and love for Celeste sports.
