Brett was born February 21, 1986, in Fort Worth, Texas, to Jerry Floyd Jennings and Margaret Hugenberg Jennings.

Brett, also known as Rico, Uncle Rico, Bobo and El Chico, was someone you couldn’t easily forget. He was loving, caring, thoughtful and humble, while also being loud, obnoxious, and quite often the life of the party. He was the kind of man who would give you the shirt off his back - and then probably buy you four more. He would always say he knew a little bit about a lot, could figure out just about anything, and had a work ethic that was hard to match. Depending on the occasion, you might find him in work pants and boots, a bro tank and board shorts, his infamous cabana pajamas, or dressed to the nines in a suit. But beneath all of that personality was a man whose greatest joy was his family.

Brett met the love of his life, Laura, in the summer of 2008. They met by mutual friends and had a day planned to go out to party cove on Lake Lewisville. On the way to the lake, Laura was stuck in the back seat of Brett’s Denali and every time she’d look up, she’d catch him staring at her from the front. She won’t admit that it was love at first sight, but she had a feeling from that moment that she was going to know Brett for a very long time. They ended that day together, on the back of the boat talking for hours and from that day forward, Brett wouldn’t leave her alone. They say opposites attract and that couldn’t be more true. There wasn’t a day that went by that they didn’t talk and after 700 years, Brett finally proposed. Christmas of 2019, in the pouring snow by the campfire surrounded by family, he got down on one knee and asked Laura to be his forever. October 6, 2023, Laura and Brett were married in the same state that he proposed, in Zion National Park, Utah.

Brett always had a thing for snow and on January 21, 2025 while snow fell in Texas, he held his Daughter, Amelia for the first time. Brett will tell you that he always wanted a boy but that God knew exactly what he was doing taking a tough man and softening him up a bit by giving him a little girl. He would say that being a girl dad was the biggest privilege he was ever given in life and it completely changed him for the better. Whatever Brett was doing, Millie was right there with him. He loved taking her to work to let her ride in the tractor or on the skid steer. There wasn’t a day that he mowed without her and they would end each day with a side by side ride around the neighborhood together. Of all the things Brett accomplished in his life, being Millie’s Dada was his greatest. He would go to bed every night telling Laura just how much he loved her. She was given the absolute best Dada God could have chosen for her. She was his entire world and he intended on showing her that every single day.

Brett built Lakefront Fabrication from the ground up, relying not on advertising but on his reputation and word of mouth. He built his business the same way he lived his life - with good morals, hard work, pride in what he did, and a willingness to go the extra mile. He could figure almost anything out, and leaving a job before it was right simply wasn't in him. He was proud of his work and especially proud that the business he built with his own hands provided for the family he loved so deeply.

Calling Brett's hobbies "hobbies" might be generous, because even in his free time he usually found a way to be working or tinkering with something. He loved running equipment, digging dirt, mowing, hunting, golfing, boating, cooking out, spending time at the ranch in Rotan, traveling and vacationing with the people he loved. Plenty of good times were also spent in the shop, around the golf simulator, or down at the dock at the lake.

Brett had a remarkable way of making people feel like they were one of his best friends - and for many, he truly was. His circle was large, but it was incredibly close. He was the friend you could call at any hour, and if you needed him, he would drop what he was doing and come. Whether it was hunting, boating, cooking, working, or simply getting everybody together, Brett was happiest surrounded by his people. The group Snapchat known simply as "The Crew" will never quite be the same.

He was a friend, husband, father, coach, uncle, mentor, brother and son, and he gave his whole heart to each of those roles. Brett didn't just collect friends throughout his life; he built a family around himself everywhere he went. If you were fortunate enough to be one of his people, you knew it.

Brett is survived by his wife, Laura Jennings; daughter, Amelia "Millie" Jennings; parents, Jerry and Meta Jennings; brother and sister-in-law, Brad and Beth Jennings, and their children, River, Parker and Ainsley; sister, Joni Jennings and John McGarl; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Gary and Deana Green; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bryan and Ashley Green, and their children, Hudson and Easton; along with numerous cousins, aunts, uncles, extended family members and an extraordinary circle of friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, John and Barbara Hugenberg, and his grandmother, Joy Winters.

As for Brett's honorary pallbearers, narrowing that list down would be nearly impossible. Brett had what could only be described as a million best friends - and you all know who you are.

Above all, Brett's life was one worth celebrating. His absence leaves a space that cannot be filled, but those who knew him were blessed to have known someone so loving, loyal, hardworking, ridiculous, generous and completely unforgettable. There will be stories told about Brett for years to come - some appropriate for all audiences and, undoubtedly, some that are not.

And that's exactly how it should be.

Memories for Millie
A "Memories for Millie" box will be available at the service. Family and friends are encouraged to bring letters, stories, photographs, funny memories, or anything else they would like Millie to have so that, throughout her life, she can continue learning about the man her Dada was and how deeply he was loved. Cards will also be available at the service for anyone who would like to write a memory for Millie while there.

For everyone blessed enough to know Brett, his life was far too short - but what a blessing it was to know him at all.

In lieu of flowers the family will be accepting donations for Millie's future.
