Tina Rene Lara, 64, of Greenville, Texas, passed away on Thursday, October 15, 2026, in Plano, Texas. A visitation celebrating Rene’s life will be held on Thursday, October 22, 2026, from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home.
Rene was born on August 6, 1962, in Greenville, Texas, to Modesto Lara and Toni Hinojosa.
She leaves behind her daughter, Ashlie Rusch, and husband, Mike; grandsons Ryan Wade (Emily), Reece Wade (Ashtyn), and Kacen Rusch; and great-granddaughters Luella Wade and Bella Waddell. She is also survived by her sisters, several nieces and nephews, and countless others who were lucky enough to be loved by her as “other kids” and “grandbabies.” If Rene claimed you as one of hers, you were family. No questions asked!
Rene was preceded in death by her son, Jason Wade, and her parents.
To know Rene was to love her. She loved her children and grandbabies fiercely, and they were, without a doubt, her greatest pride and joy. But Rene had a way of making everyone feel like family. Whether she was dancing like nobody was watching, cracking a joke at just the right moment, or simply saying hello, she had a gift for making people smile and feel loved.
Rene was a little goofy, a little silly, and a whole lot of fun. She never quite lost that childlike spirit, and thank goodness for that! She could be a kid right alongside the kids, and maybe that was her secret. She knew how to let go, laugh a little louder, act a little silly, and remind everyone around her not to take life quite so seriously. She was a hoot, to say the least, and life was simply more fun with Rene in it.
Her heart was big, her love was fierce, and her personality was one you didn’t forget. She made people feel welcome, accepted, and special just by being herself. She didn't need a special occasion to make someone smile; being Rene was more than enough.
Above all, she was a mother, a Grandma, a Mawmaw, and a friend who loved with her whole heart. Of all the names she was called, Grandma and Mawmaw held a particularly special place in her heart. Her grandbabies were her world, and she was never shy about letting them know it.
Rene leaves behind a lifetime of laughter, countless memories, and a whole lot of people who will forever hear her voice in their favorite stories and smile when they think of her. There will be a little less laughter without her here, but there will always be a little bit of Rene in everyone she loved.
And if there’s one thing Rene taught us, it’s that love doesn’t have to be perfect, life doesn’t always have to be serious, and sometimes the best thing you can do is be a little silly and make somebody smile.
She was loved beyond words, will be missed beyond measure.
