Adam was a deeply loved son, grandson, family member, and friend whose life touched others in ways both profound and unforgettable.
Born in June 19, 1986, Adam was blessed with an extraordinary mind, a unique perspective on the world, and a sense of humor that could catch everyone by surprise. He was intelligent, thoughtful, wonderfully witty, and entirely himself.
Living with autism meant Adam often experienced the world differently from those around him. But those who took the time to truly know him discovered a remarkable person with a sharp mind, a tender heart, and a personality that could never be duplicated.
Adam loved video games, learning, and exploring subjects that captured his interest. He could be wonderfully direct, unexpectedly funny, and deeply compassionate.
One of the most beautiful things about Adam was the tenderness he showed in quiet moments. Even while facing tremendous suffering himself, he could recognize someone else's pain and want to make it better. Those small acts of love revealed the heart behind his sometimes guarded exterior.
Adam faced extraordinary medical challenges throughout his life, culminating in a courageous battle with cholangiocarcinoma, a rare and aggressive cancer. Through it all, he remained a person with his own opinions, wishes, humor, and determination.
His life was so much more than his medical struggles. It was a life filled with individuality, intelligence, meaningful moments, laughter, and love.
To his mother, Wendy, Adam was not simply her son. He was a treasured part of her life, someone she loved fiercely, advocated for tirelessly, and considered one of God's greatest gifts.
He is survived by his mother, Wendy Stephens Overman and step-dad, Brent Overman; grandmother, Sylvia Stephens-Norman and husband, Charles Norman; uncle, Greg Stephens and aunt, Emily; along with numerous extended family.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Wayne Stephens.
Although his time on earth was far too short, the love Adam inspired and the memories he created will remain with those who knew him. He will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever treasured.
