Martin Reese Luhn II of Lone Oak, died at his home on Sunday, April 4, 2010 after a 2 year illness.

He graduated with honors from Greenville High School in 1964 and East Texas State University in 1968 with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology. He served in the United States Army from 1969 until 1971. Martin obtained his master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from E.T.S.U. in 1972. He was employed by the State of Texas, E-Systems, and eventually retired from Raytheon.
Martin married Linda Sue Dooley on June 9, 1973 at Prairie Valley Baptist Church.
Martin is survived by his mother, Adelle Luhn of Greenville; his wife Sue of Lone Oak; son, Jason and daughter-in-law Beth Luhn and his pride and joy, grandson Jaden Luhn of Greenville; son, Scott Luhn of Lone Oak; sister and brother-in-law, Lisa and Terry Turner of Rockwall; nieces, Ellie Mulliken and Kate Ramos of Rockwall; great-neices Maddie Mulliken and Lucy Ramos and great-nephew, Jackson Mulliken, of Rockwall. He was preceded in death by his father Martin Luhn.
Martin grew up in Greenville, but after he married, he fell in love with living in the country. He loved growing vegetables and flowers and being a “shade tree” mechanic. Martin enjoyed “beekeeping” for a number of years. He even made his own honey. He collected old stamps, coins and guns. One of his favorite pastimes was watching the Lone Oak Buffaloes play football. He kept stats for the team from 1977 until about 2002. If the Buffaloes were playing an away game, he would call the score and plays into the Herald Banner.
Martin was a member of the Prairie Valley Baptist Church.
