Nevelyn Gay (Odom) Kinamon went to be with her Lord, her son, and her mother on November 26, 2010 following a long and courageous struggle with a devastating disease.

Gay was a sister, wife, mother, musician, beauty queen, and teacher loved by all who knew her. She graduated from Leverett’s Chapel HS and held BS and MS degrees from East Texas State and Stephen F. Austin State respectively. Gay was a member of Rainbow Girls, Delta Gamma, and Gold Star Mothers. She began her teaching career in Greenville, Texas followed by elementary schools in Houston, Dallas, and Duncanville. She held several PTA offices and was awarded Life Membership and was designated an outstanding teacher by the Texas State Teachers Association. She later coordinated student teachers at UT-Arlington before serving as Events Coordinator at EDS.

She is survived by husband Harold (Buddy), daughter Deana and son-in-law Mark Sorensen, father L.B. Odom, and sister Loyce Odom. She was preceded in death by son Harold, Jr. (Bud), grandson Mason, mother Eunice Odom, and brother Boyce Odom.

Memorial services will be at 11:00 December 2 at First Baptist Church, Greenville, Texas. At her request, there will be no public visitation prior to the service and no graveside service following.

If you prefer to make a donation in lieu of flowers, she would be honored by a donation to Bethlehem Cemetery, Gideons International, or your local women’s shelter.

"Just now found out about the loss of Gay Kinamon. Gay and Buddy were always so nice and supportive of my family, especially when we moved to Australia and they were already there. I remember the day we arrived there Gay and Buddy had already stocked our refrigerator and pantry with food in the corporate apartment. Such a great team and such wonderfully nice people. Buddy was always a great mentor and wise soul who I admire. Very sorry to hear of Gay's passing.
