"Jill,
I was so sorry to read in the paper about your mom's passing, and I wish that I had been able to come to the service for her, but I have been out of town for a week until 3/20/11. Your mom and dad were lifelong friends of my parents, Ward and Emma Lou, and I taught with your mom at Travis. She was such a special lady, always witty and with a smile on her face. Hattye Mary used to kid my mom about how she was younger than my mom; she could say this because her birthday, 2/12/15 was one week after my mom's! And they sent each other birthday cards every year for 40-50 years! They had a very special and wonderful, lifelong friendship. I also remember, growing up, that your parents and my parents often did things together as couples, such as playing in a bridge club together. They had such great times together. Please accept my condolences. I will miss Hattye Mary, but I have some wonderful memories of her."
