Leona Moore was born January 11, 1921 in Brookston, Texas to Norman and Mary Wallace. A long-time resident of Dallas, Texas, she passed from this earth on March 29, 2011. Leona cherished being with family and friends and found her calling nurturing children through her work at church day care centers. Leona was married to James Moore from 1945 until his passing in 1977. She is survived by her son Gary (G.L.) and his wife, Laura of Southlake, along with numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her siblings John Wallace, Sam Wallace, James Wallace, George Wallace, Erma LeMaster, Jewell Kent, Phoebe Pennington, and Sarah Hall. A special thanks to the staff of Honey Grove Nursing Center for eight years of love and devotion for Leona. A celebration of Leona’s life will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 2 at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home in Greenville, Texas, preceded by visitation at noon. Burial will follow at Merit Cemetery in Merit, Texas.
