Kenneth A. Barker, Sr., 73 of Greenville passed away August 16, 2011 at Greenville Health & Rehabilitation. Services will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Gary Little officiating. Interment will follow at Rosemound Cemetery in Commerce. Visitation will be from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Friday at the funeral home.
Born April 29, 1928 in Fort Bend County, Texas, Kenneth was the son of Preston O. Barker, Sr. and Velma S. (Green) Barker. On September 4, 2009, he married Linda Dean in Greenville. He served in the United States Navy and was a retired district manager for American National Life Insurance Company. He was a member of the Greenville #87 and the Farmersville I.O.O.F. Lodge serving as a former district deputy. Mr. Barker was a member of the Nazarene faith.
His survivors include his wife of Greenville; children Kenneth A. Barker, Jr. and wife Joy of Colorado Springs, Col., Jay Hicks and wife Melinda of Santa Fe, Tx., Sandra Bruns and husband Tom of Marble Falls, Ronald Barker and wife Amanda of Caddo Mills, and Arletta Wallace and husband Kelly of Gravette; step-daughters Lacy McKay and husband Keith of Kerrville and Lorena O’Quinn of Greenville; brothers Henry Barker and wife Janine Barker of San Antonio, Harvey Barker and wife Joyce of Round Rock, Preston Barker, Jr. and wife Faye of Baytown; sisters Joyce Hughes and husband Joe of Victoria and Alice Bickett and husband Wendell of Llano; sister-in-law Barbara Barker of Groesbeck; 16 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife Catherine S. Barker, brother Otis Barker, and grandson Derrick Barker.
Pallbearers will be Richey Fronterhouse, Billy Ed Fronterhouse, Daniel Castaneda,
Timothy Kellog, Kenneth Barker, Jr., and Jay Hicks.
